Biography

Chief Leonard George was born on August 18, 1946 in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was an actor, known for Smoke Signals (1998), Little Big Man (1970) and Chilly Dogs (2001). He was married to Susan. He died on December 6, 2017 in British Columbia, Canada.

He was a Coast Salish native of North Vancouver, B.C. He was the Chief of the Burrard Indian Band. He was also a son of Chief Dan George.

As an elder and chief of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, he was known for his wisdom, wit, and work to protect First Nations' resources and culture.
