- William 'Pop' Gates was born on August 30, 1917 in Decatur, Alabama, USA. He was an actor, known for The Harlem Globetrotters (1951), What's My Line? (1950) and The History of the NBA (1990). He died on December 2, 1999 in New York City, New York, USA.
