Godmother of Jeff Bridges.

She was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Live Theatre at 6706 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California on May 23, 2003 (her 84th birthday).

Best known by the public for her roles as Irene Lorenzo on All in the Family (1971) and as Edna Babish on Laverne & Shirley (1976).

Her father was an alcoholic travelling salesman who died when she was still a child.

Played two different characters on two different shows that were married to an Italian man named Frank. First on All in the Family, then on Laverne and Shirley.

Sons with Larry Parks: composer Garrett Parks and actor Andrew Parks.

Attended and graduated from the Annie Wright School in Tacoma, Washington. Later studied acting at New York City's Neighborhood Playhouse under Sanford Meisner.

Co-founder, with Carol Eve Rossen and Sandy Kenyon, of "Theatre West", an internationally acclaimed non-profit arts organization in Hollywood, in 1962.

Made her theatrical debut in a 1938 Mercury Theatre production of "Danton's Death". Later performed at the 1939 World's Fair. She was under contract at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (1947-49).

Suzanne Collins, Donna Fuller, Sally Klein, Laurie O'Brien, Jennifer Parsons, Teri Ralston and she were awarded the 1983 Drama Logue Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance for "Quilters" at the Mark Taper Forum Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

She lived in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles for several years.

She was cremated and her ashes were given to her surviving relatives.
