Biography

Constance Garnett was born in 1862. She was a writer, known for The Brothers Karamazov (1958), BBC Sunday-Night Theatre (1950) and Uncle Vanya (1963). She died in 1946.

Grandmother of actress Amaryllis Garnett.

One of the most famous English translators of Russian literature. For many years, her translations of the great Russian classics, such as "War and Peace", "Crime and Punishment", and "The Brothers Karamazov", were the standard English translations read.
