- Graeme was born in Aberdeen and brought up in Preston by his father who was a doctor. He intended to follow in his footsteps and studied at Cambridge. There, he discovered acting but continued his studies at Kings College Hospital in London where he shared a flat with Eric Idle. They joined Tim Brooke Taylor and set up Broaden Your Mind for BBC 2. He qualified as a doctor, but, at the same time, got an offer to be in a TV series, 'Twice a Fortnight ', with Germaine Greer and Bill Odie. He thought that he could put his medical career aside for a few months, because he might never get another offer for acting in television. He got together with Bill and Tim and created The Goodies which ran for two series on Yorkshire TV. With Bill, he provided the voices for Bananaman cartoons. He adapted some P.G. Wodehouse stories for TV, wrote the novel The Seventh Man (as well as the film script from the novel) and penned 'Graeme Garden's Book of Medical Humour'.
