Biography

Iván García was born on February 26, 1938 in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. He was an actor and writer, known for Duarte, traición y gloria (2014), Luisa (1975) and La Sangre (1978). He was married to Frances Brenes Guridi. He died on March 22, 2025 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

In 2015, he was awarded the Great Sovereign Award of the Dominican Association of Art Chroniclers (Acroarte).

He participated in the Civil War of 1965. Since then, he had remained outside of partisan organizations, although he remained supportive and active with patriotic movements and the causes that he considers just.

Iván García Guerra was a Dominican theater actor, narrator, journalist, playwright, academic and director of theater.

Guerra began as a theater actor in 1955 with The Great Theater of the World in the role of "El Pobre". His theatrical experiences comprise, in addition to all the stage techniques, acting, directing, dramaturgy and teaching staff.

In honor of him, Arisleyda Beard, on January 5, 2010 founded the Iván García theater school and performance hall theater-school in the city of Puerto Plata.
