- Director
François Garcia is a Canadian producer, director, event producer and serial entrepreneur with more than three decades of experience spanning film and television production, multimedia, distribution, communications, digital and print publishing, technology, e-commerce and merchant banking.
Active in the industry since the mid-1990s, Garcia has built a multidisciplinary career combining creative production with entrepreneurship and business development. In the late 1990s, he served as Vice President of Millennium Multimedia Productions and as President of POV Pictures, a Montreal-based film services company, gaining experience across both the creative and operational sides of film production.
In 2001, Garcia founded IMPACT Media, developing, producing, financing and distributing original content across film, television and multimedia. In 2013, he sold IMPACT Media to U.S.-based publicly traded Malwin Ventures (now Eva Live Inc., Nasdaq: GOAI), where IMPACT Media became a wholly owned subsidiary and Garcia remained President and Producer. In 2021, he reacquired the company, returning it to private ownership.
Throughout his career, Garcia has been involved in the acquisition, development and production of high-interest intellectual property. In 2012, he played a key role in securing intellectual property rights from antivirus pioneer John McAfee, subsequently developing and marketing projects based on those rights across multiple formats and platforms. His work during this period included the six-part documentary series The McAfee Project for Viacom and the multimedia project Kings of Blow.
His film and television work includes producing Banshee and serving as Executive Producer on the feature film Darwin. His broader production background encompasses live events, branded entertainment and large-scale event production alongside his work in film and television.
Garcia later created, produced and directed the animal-focused television series Beyond the Leash and developed Passionimal, a bilingual multimedia platform dedicated to the animal world, encompassing original programming, education, rescue, adoption and conservation.
More recently, Garcia produced and directed the feature documentary Extortion 17, filmed in Canada, the United States and Afghanistan. He is currently producing LLOYD, a feature documentary exploring the life, career and influence of independent filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman, and producing and directing Sign My Skin, a feature documentary exploring tattoo culture, identity and tradition around the world.
Garcia is also currently producing TERRY, a feature biopic chronicling the extraordinary life and legacy of Canadian icon Terry Fox, while developing a slate of feature films in the horror genre.
Across more than three decades, Garcia has built a career at the intersection of storytelling and entrepreneurship, developing companies, intellectual property and original productions while bringing together the creative, financial and strategic elements required to move ambitious projects from concept to screen.
