Biography

Ernest K. Gann was born on October 13, 1910 in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. He was a writer, known for The High and the Mighty (1954), Soldier of Fortune (1955) and Island in the Sky (1953). He was married to Doris Barbara "Dodie" Post and Eleanor Helen Michaud. He died on December 19, 1991 in Friday Harbor, Washington, USA.

American adventure novelist, whose works often deal with aviation and are noted for racy dialogue. He had himself been a professional aviator, who piloted Douglas DC-2 and Douglas DC-3 aircraft for various American airlines in the 1930's. During World War II, he flew C-87 transports for the U.S. Army Air Force Transport Command in diverse and far-flung locations, from the North Atlantic to the Himalayas.
