John Galsworthy was born on 14 August 1867 in Kingston Hill, Surrey, England, UK. He was a writer and actor, known for That Forsyte Woman (1949), 21 Days Together (1940) and A Summer Story (1988). He was married to Ada Nemesis Pearson Cooper. He died on 31 January 1933 in Grove Lodge, Hampshire, England, UK.

He allegedly declined knighthood but was awarded the O.M. (Order of Merit) in the 1929 King&#39;s Birthday Honours List for his services to literature.

His writing was influenced by <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0877057/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Ivan Turgenev</a> and by <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0175676/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Joseph Conrad</a>, whom he befriended.

Studied law and was called to the bar in 1890, but did not practice.
