  • George Gallo moved from Mamaroneck, New York and relocated in Los Angeles in 1982. After 4 years, he got the film "Wise Guys" produced with Danny Devito and Joe Piscopo. The classic buddy/cops and robbers picture "Midnight Run" came next with Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin. Then in 1990, he wrote and directed "29th Street" which Danny Aiello and Anthony LaPaglia. It got critical raves. Other credits include 1995's, "Bad Boys" starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Gallo will soon direct the film "Friend Again."

  • George Gallo has written and or directed numerous films that span many genres. From Action Comedies such as "Midnight Run" and "Bad Boys" to heartwarming tales such as "29th Street" and "Local Color." Gallo sees himself as a journeyman filmmaker, always attempting to broaden his scope as a storyteller. He has won several awards for both writing and directing, including "The Writer's Guild 101 Funniest Screenplays Award" for "Midnight Run."

He's had several one man shows as an artist, written two books on the subject of impressionist painting, has done several instructional painting videos, and had a retrospective of nearly one hundred works at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio..

    George has had the honor of directing some of the finest actors in Hollywood including Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Tommy Lee Jones, Meg Ryan, John Travolta, Antonio Banderas, Robert Forster, James Caan, Brendan Fraser, Cole Hauser and Armin Mueller-Stahl, to name a few.

    His soon to be released film, "The Comeback Trail," starring Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Tommy Lee Jones, Zach Braff, Emile Hirsch, and Eddie Griffin has received several awards including "The Stanley Kramer Mad, Mad World Award" for comedy, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the "Monte Carlo Comedy Film Festival."

When the school informed him that he couldn't switch majors without repeating his first year's studies, he decided to drop out and ended up writing his first film, Wise Guys (1986), which took five years to get produced.
