Biography

Doug was born in Evanston,Illinois and raised in a lot of places, most notably Chicago and its suburbs, Northport, New York and the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The only acting he did as a child were school plays and a few commercials. Doug served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1970 and is a Vietnam combat Veteran, having served in a mechanized Infantry unit in II corps.

After Vietnam he left the service and returned to Chicago, where he trained as a commercial pilot. He flew for over 20 years as a charter pilot and flight instructor, while writing for several aviation magazines. He later became Manager of Press Relations for Piper Aircraft, demonstrating their planes to other aviation writers.

After the personal aircraft business imploded in the early 1980s Doug acquired a degree in Business Administration and went to work for a marketing agency, specializing in high tech and aerospace clients. Finally, at the tender age of 40 he decided to pursue his other great passion, acting.

He began in San Diego and remained there until taking his Equity card. He then moved to Los Angeles, because who can afford New York? While Doug has primarily focused on stage acting, he has recently become more involved in camera work, and finds he loves it. As an actor without a series, he is now too poor to fly, but as he has flown for over 5,000 hours and he feels just as much passion for his acting, he's willing to make that trade. To this day, he is the only actor he knows with a degree in business administration. Go figure.
