Eric Friend was born in Marquette MI, and moved to Austin TX in 1993 to study film at the University of Texas. He started as a sound editor on films by Richard Linklater, and a staff VO engineer for Mike Judge in the mid 90s-00s. In 2006 Eric began working as a freelance sound designer, re-recording mixer, VO engineer and composer. He has performed as a studio and touring keyboardist for the bands Spoon ('00-'04) and The Reivers ('09-'16). In 2016 Eric opened his current studio, Optical Audio in Austin TX.
