Biography

Dave Freeman was born on August 22, 1922 in London, England, UK. He was a writer and actor, known for Carry on Columbus (1992), The Avengers (1961) and Those Fantastic Flying Fools (1967). He was married to Allie. He died on March 28, 2005 in Queen's Park, London, England, UK.

Father of 'Greg Freeman (III)'.

He produced comedy sketches for Tony Hancock, Tommy Cooper, Frankie Howerd, Roy Hudd, and Arthur Askey, but he will be best remembered for his work with Benny Hill. He was co-writer on the show from its debut in 1955 to the mid-1960s, as well as appearing in many sketches. He also created Hill's award-winning advertisements for Schweppes.

He was a petty officer in the Royal Navy and a Special Branch detective, before becoming a comedy writer for TV and radio. He was also a successful playwright and was most proud of his theater work.
