In 1992, Foster was involved in a freak car accident after his vehicle struck actor/singer Ben Vereen who was wandering on the Pacific Coast Highway in the dark of night. As this turned out, Vereen had already suffered an accident earlier that day when his car hit a tree, causing him to bang his head on the roof of his car and suffer a stroke. But after Vereen was taken to the hospital, doctors discovered he had a brain bleed and intervened just in the nick of time. In a strange quirk of fate, Foster actually 'saved' Vereen's life by almost killing him.

Every single day I wake up, I try to do my very best. I give 100-per-cent, and absolutely 100-per-cent love what I do every day. I've been doing this for forty years. I'm obsessed with what I do, and I just love it.
