- Leonie Forbes was born on June 14, 1937 in Kingston, Jamaica. She was an actress and writer, known for Children of Babylon (1980), Lord Have Mercy! (2003) and What My Mother Told Me (1995). She died on October 25, 2022 in Jamaica.
- Attended St George's Preparatory, Merrywood Elementary School, Mico Practising School, Kingston Senior School, Excelsior College, and Durham College, all in Jamaica.
- C-authored "The Re-Entry Into Sound", along with Alma Mock Yen. This is a standard text used to train broadcasters all over the Caribbean.
- Joined the new Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC) in 1959 as a radio announcer and later won a scholarship to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in England.
- After leaving school, she worked as a typist at the University of the West Indies.
- Lived in Australia from 1968 to 1970, while her husband worked at the University of Queensland. Acted in radio dramas for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, as well as working part-time as a drama teacher.
