- Matt's first network television role was playing an Astronaut in Mel Brooks' The Nutt House (1989) - directed by the late Bill Bixby. He appeared on Another World, on Mel Brooks' The Nutt House with Cloris Leachman and Harvey Korman, Columbo and Melrose Place. Flynn directed a short film, then a documentary on race car driving prior to writing and directing his first feature film, Hack! (2007), out of Universal Studios. He recently wrote and directed the thriller Sacred Evil, which will be released in 2026.
- Flynn holds a baccalaureate in English Literature and taught Freshman Composition in the University's Masters Program, while playing on the college's nationally-ranked rugby team. He moved furniture for North American Van Lines during college and two years after graduation in the Bay Area.
- Studied at HB Studios in Greenich Village and also with Ron Stetson's (of the Neighbhood Playhouse) in Stetson's Two-Year Meisner Program in New York. When Flynn moved to Los Angeles from NY, he continued studying at the Stella Adler Conservatory. Matt was a top male model in the late1980's and 1990's repped by Ford Models and worked for Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Gucci, Halston and appeared in GQ, American Vogue, Italian Vogue, Cosmopolitan and other publications. Flynn starred in dozens of National and International TV Commercials (Budweiser, Gillette, Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Coca Cola, Pirelli, etc.) and lived in London, Paris and Milan for a few years.
- Award Winning Producer, won for Best Drama at the Gulf Coast Film & Video Festival, 2012. Guest panelist at the La Femme International Film Festival in Los Angeles (2018, 2021).
- Matt wrote for Chip Foose's car show Overhaulin' for The Discovery Channel and is a fan of Foose's work. Flynn has built quite a few classic vehicles himself over the years including a '68 Chevelle, '69 Roadrunner, '40 Chevy coupe, '55 Chevy, a few Harley Davidson's and a '55 Moto Guzzi Falcone police motorcycle he bought in Naples, Italy.
- He was adopted at a young age with his adoptive mother being Filipina and father Irish-American. His son, James Thomas Flynn, is a lighting designer in the entertainment industry, while his daughter, Rosemary, tragically passed away at age 21. Matt is a US and Canadian Citizen, holding passports in both countries and a vested member of the Screen Actors Guild.
