Biography

Brent Florence

Biography

  • Brent Florence is a writer, director and actor known for the award winning films "Eagles In The Chicken Coop" and "A Girl, Three Guys and a Gun" which he wrote, directed and starred in. His last feature film is the award winning Rockumentary, "Different Town" which he co-directed and co-produced and his recent commercial work includes the new visual campaign he directed for the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and a character-comedy campaign for Qualcomm. Brent's latest roles acting include the feature film "God Send," to be released this year and a role in the award winning film "Meet Me In Montengro," for Spirit Award Winner writer/director Alex Holdridge, which was released theatrically in the US this year. Born in Ojai, California... Brent's love for acting and writing began at the age of eleven when he landed a role in a production of West Side Story. The years following he immersed himself in the arts acting in productions and studying in Ojai and Santa Barbara. By 1994 Brent found himself traveling the globe to follow his second love, the sport of surfing. As a semi-professional surfer, Brent produced and directed his first movie "One Track Mind," a nonfiction surf-film that was sold and distributed in the US and internationally. Directly following, Brent began studying at USC's School of Cinema where he was involved in over thirty productions (acting, writing and directing). Within a year of completing his degree, Brent teamed up with Lloyd A. Silverman (Executive Producer, Snow Falling on Cedars) to produce the feature film "The Solid Ones," which Brent wrote and directed. The film received awards and acclaim at each festival it screened at across the U.S. and was ultimately sold and distributed (re-titled: A Girl, Three Guys And A Gun). Brent's latest feature film "Eagles In The Chicken Coop," which he wrote, directed and starred in, attracted a star studded eclectic cast including Oscar Nominated, Kathleen Quinlan. "Eagles" won awards in every film festival it has entered, on two continents, including Best Pictures and Audience Award from three of Movie Maker Magazines, "Top 25 Film Festivals in the US." Brent was the only filmmaker nominated by name in three categories of the Milan International Film Festival ( Best Directing, Best Screenwriting, Best Picture ), for his work on "Eagles" and took home the greatly coveted Leonardo DaVinci's Horse Award for Best Screenwriting. Brent also garnered the coveted Best Director award in Hollywood before a sold-out crowd at the Egyptian Theater and the film took home the Audience Award in New York at the New York United Film Festival. Brent continues to write, direct and act in commercial campaigns and feature films and has completed multiple spec screenplays and TV pilot scripts. He is in development of his next narrative feature film; a psychological thriller.
