- Edward was born in Boston, Massachusetts in the fall of 1970 and grew up in neighboring Cambridge. He attended Wheaton College and studied at the Berklee College of Music. His big break into Hollywood came when he was cast in James Cameron's blockbuster hit, Titanic (1997) as 6th Officer Moody. Edward took some time off from acting in the early 2000s to pursue other interests, particularly his artwork, which has been featured in art shows and galleries throughout the country. As of 2016, Edward has returned to acting, auditioning for roles as well as pursuing one of his other interests, music with his band, Stuntplane.

- Spent five months from 1996-1997 shooting Titanic (1997) at Fox Baja Studios in Rosarito Beach, Mexico. He stated in an interview that only two shots were done a night because the ship kept having to be reset and considers the experience to be a very memorable and fun one.
- Attended Beaver Country Day School in Brookline, Massachusetts and later went on to graduate from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts in 1993 with a BA in Musical Composition. He also studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
- His father, Joseph was a renowned historian and taught Chinese and Central Asian History at Harvard University. He passed away from cancer in June of 1984. Mother is Madeleine.
