Kathy Lockwood is originally from Washington, DC but moved to Florida for college and never left. She has worked in broadcasting and film in a number of areas both in front of and behind the camera.
Her main love is writing, and she holds an MFA in Creative Writing. She also has a Master's in Mass Communication (her thesis was on participatory fandom, after becoming fascinated by the psychology of fans and celebrities), and a Master's in Professional Communication.
She has appeared in a number of feature films, commercials, industrials and TV programs over the years.
After obtaining her first Master's, she moved away from the media and began teaching. She served as a professor of communication and media at multiple universities until moving into administration.
After leaving her university position unexpectedly in 2024, she found herself unemployed and desperate for a job. After thinking about what industry was growing and would be hiring, she decided on AI. After some research, she came across jobs that didn't require coding and soon found herself hired as a human data trainer/annotator teaching AI how to act human and how to recognize human attributes in users. She loved it and has been working in that area ever since. She has not only used her writing skills, but A/V recording and editing, combining her many skills. She has worked with Meta, Apple, and was recruited to work full time with xAI where she was on the team developing Grok. After a major layoff there, she continues with other companies (it's mostly contract aka freelance work).
With a flexible work schedule and working remotely, she enjoys being around her cats and having time to do more writing. She also does script doctoring and consulting, working with both professionals and students.
After working as a 2nd AD and actress in the indy film "Haunted Happy Hour" made by her grad school friend, Jack Bremen, she has gotten the acting and production bug back and plans to get back into those areas.
