Streaming Stars, Then and Now

Steven Fischer's two strongest passions in life are cartoons and live action filmmaking. His Steve & Bluey cartoons have been amusing audiences since 1989 in books such as There's a Blue Dog Under My Bed; on TV with Steve & Bluey: In a Minute (TCI-TV, 1996-1999); and in radio comedies for the Holiday Broadcasting Company. "The Wonderful, Happy, Cartoony World of Steve & Bluey" is the latest Steve & Bluey book.

At the age of 24, Fischer was accepted into the prestigious Directors Guild of America (member from 1996-2001). He has produced for companies and organizations such as TCI Communications, AmeriCorps, The Shriver Center, UMBC, and the Polish National Alliance, works that are as diverse in subject matter as they are in emotion -- from the silly, animated Wally The Green Monster cartoons (JCS New England Television Network) to the 2001 Emmy-nominated Silence of Falling Leaves, which Baltimore Magazine called "haunting and surreal". He developed and teaches Introduction to Cartoon Storytelling at the college level, and is currently in production on "Freedom Dance," a documentary.

Emmy-winning animation producer Steve Melendez, son of famed Disney animator Bill Melendez, has been Steven Fischer&#39;s mentor since 1991. Melendez, famous for the Charlie Brown animated films, got Fischer his start in animation.

In 2015, Fischer was a guest of Cunard&#39;s famed ocean liner Queen Mary 2 speaking on creativity and the history of cartoons during QM2&#39;s World Cruise.

Steven Fischer is a Fulbright Award recipient, noted by the Institute of International Education, Council for International Exchange of Scholars, and the US Department of State Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs as a Specialist in creativity and cartoon storytelling.

In 2014, the ultra luxury mega yacht SeaDream (SeaDream Yacht Club) invited Fischer as a guest speaker on creativity on a Transatlantic crossing from San Juan, Puerto Rico to London.

Fischer was named as a member of the jury for the Academy Awards-qualifying Chicago International Children&#39;s Film Festival in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016, and was Jury Chair in 2017.

Fischer served as a Jury Chair for the CINE Awards in 2010, 2011, and 2012, and was named a jury member in 2014 and 2015.
