Maurie Fields was born on August 4, 1926 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He was an actor, known for Hunter (1967), Country Town (1971) and Bellbird (1967). He was married to Val Jellay and Dorothy. He died on December 18, 1995 in Albert Park, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

His son by Val Jellay is the comedian, Marty Fields.

He is buried in St Vincent's Place, Albert Park, Victoria, Australia.

Was the recipient of the 1996 Gold Logie at the TV Week Logie Awards Hall Of Fame. This was only the second time in Logies' history that the award was made posthumously, Fields having died four months earlier. His wife of 35 years, Val Jellay, accepted the award on his behalf, receiving a standing ovation.
