Louis Feuillade

  • Paris, 30th July, 1915: Discharged from active service, during World War I, due to a heart problem.
  • He was the most prolific film director in history, not counting television directors.
  • Father-in-law of Maurice Champreux and grandfather of Jacques Champreux.
  • Biography in: John Wakeman, editor. "World Film Directors, Volume One, 1890-1945". Pages 319-325. New York: The H.W. Wilson Company, 1987.
  • Nîmes, June 17th 1900: Had his first article published by the newspaper Torero.
  • In the summer of 1924 Feuillade collapsed from exhaustion and never fully recovered. His last two films were completed with the assistance of his son-in-law Maurice Champreux. He died of peritonitis in Nice, France, one week after his 52nd birthday.
  • Feuillade's second wife, actress Georgette Lagneau, appeared in some of his later films under the name Lugane. His first wife, Leontine, died in 1911.
  • Buried at Saint Gerard's Cemetery in his hometown of Lunel, France. He rests in the Feuillade family tomb with his parents, sister, and first wife, who all predeceased him.
