Barbara Ferris in The Krays (1990)

Trivia

Barbara Ferris

  • Alluring, almond-eyed blonde British actress of stage and TV.
  • In 1984, originated the role of Mavis in Richard Harris's stage play, Stepping Out, at The Leatherhead Theatre in England--the role played in the film version by Liza Minnelli seven years later.
  • Mother of Nick Quested, Christopher and Catherine.
  • Worked as a fashion model in the sixties.
  • First on stage at the London Coliseum as a dancer in Can-Can in October 1954.
  • Played the lead female role (Marion) in Terence Frisby's There's a Girl in My Soup (1966) at London's Globe Theatre, opposite Donald Sinden, which for a time held the record as the longest running comedy in the West End.
  • She was incorrectly said to be the sister of Pam Ferris. The two were not related in any way.
  • Her younger sister, Liz, became a springboard diving champion, who won a bronze medal at the 1960 Rome Olympics, before going on to be a doctor.
  • Studied acting at the Italia Conti stage school. While there, she was working as a teenager in TV commercials and pantomime, supplementing her father's income.
  • The second of four children, Barbara was born in London, to Dorothy (nee Roth) and Roy Ferris. Her father had a milk round in Soho after World War II.
