Biography

Andrea Feldman was a performer in several of Andy Warhol's films, most prominently in the film "Heat" as Sylvia Miles's daughter. She was notable for her screechy voice and hysterical performance style, and she often played out-of-control characters unable to cope with their circumstances.

She committed suicide in 1972 by jumping from the fourteenth floor of her apartment building in New York City. In her hands were a rosary and a can of Coca-Cola.

She was given the nickname Whips by those at the Factory and occasionally called herself Andrea Warhol.

[From her last interview, July 29, 1972 by Greg Ford, who submitted it to Interview magazine but it was never published] They just throw you in front of a camera - they don't care what you look like. And they just use you, and abuse you, and step on you, and they don't pay you anything. I am very depressed about the whole thing, because I know I'm a damn good actress and I've been brought down by Warhol and I've been mistreated by them. And Paul Morrissey told me I was the best actress he ever had.
