There is only one version and that is the five hour version ["Das Boot" (TV Mini Series) (1985)]. You have to watch this one to understand the lunacy of those times. ... This movie is a movie for eternity. There are two German war/anti-war movies to survive: that is "The Bridge" [Die Brücke (1959)] from Bernhard Wicki and "The boat".
