Biography

He is the Co-Founder of Legendary Entertainment, and its former President of Production. He was the former President of Centropolis Entertainment, during which he was Executive Producer of "Independence Day," his first big-budget film. He is originally from Redmond, Washington, and attended Stanford, then UCLA Film School. His early career was screenwriting as well as production.

During the preparation for shooting of "Independence Day," he negotiated with the Pentagon for use of military equipment and technical support for the film. The Pentagon agreed, but only on the condition that he remove any reference to "Area 51" from the script. That ended the discussion, and the film was made with no military support.
