Biography

Manuchehr Farid was born in 1937 in Iran. He was an actor, known for Downpour (1972), My heritage, insanity (1981) and Stranger and the Fog (1974). He died on July 3, 2026 in Melbourne, Australia.

While the news of his death in exile was widely covered by domestic media outlets inside Iran, none of the state-approved reports mentioned the real reasons behind his flight from his homeland or the regime's harsh persecution of this world-class artist.

Following the 1979 Islamic Revolution, himself, like countless other Baha'i citizens, was systematically banned from continuing his artistic career in Iran due to his Baha'i faith.

Is a pianist who plays in a musical trio called the Benaud Trio.

After his family were forced to flee persecution for their faith when the Islamic Revolution swept across Iran in 1979 they first moved to California, and in 1985 emigrated to Australia, settling in Melbourne, Victoria.

In Australia he worked in a textile factory for 35 years and did not return to stage or film until Iranian-Australian filmmaker Noora Niasari convinced him to act in her student film at the Victorian College of the Arts, "Simorgh (The Phoenix)".
