Daughter of Eva, the Baroness Erisso, and Major Glynn Faithfull, a WWII British spy. Recorded the first song written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, "As Tears Go By" (1964). Involved in a major drug scandal with Jagger, Richards, and others, which ultimately turned public opinion favorably towards the Rolling Stones and other rock groups. In the '70s she became addicted to heroin and was homeless in London's Soho district for a couple of years. Recorded numerous albums in the '80s while struggling with cocaine and alcohol. Has remained sober and productive since.

Probably best-known for her highly-publicized romantic link to Mick Jagger. Born December 29, 1946, to Eva, the Baroness Erisso, and Major Glynn Faithfull, a WWII British spy. Marianne Faithfull acted in several theater productions before she made her film debut appearance in I'll Never Forget What's'isname (1967). Her character made history as the first person to use the F-word in a mainstream film. A year later, she amassed a cult following as the leather-clad motorcyclist in the French film The Girl on a Motorcycle (1968). After minor appearances in film and television in the 1970s, followed by a 14-year hiatus, she made appearances as "God" in the adored and well-received British-comedy series Absolutely Fabulous (1992). In Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette (2006), Marianne portrayed Empress Maria Theresa. The next year, she starred in the film Irina Palm (2007), in the central role of Maggie, a 60-year-old widow who becomes a sex worker to pay for her ill grandson's medical treatment. Her performance was nominated for a European Film Award for Best Actress.

Once [Mick Jagger] came straight off stage to the hotel where I was waiting and he was absolutely terrifying. He was like somebody possessed. I don't think he even knew who I was. He still had his make-up on and there was a froth of spittle around his mouth and his eyes were violent and he was making grunting sounds. He didn't say a word; just those god-awful grunts. He picked me up and slammed me against the wall. Several times. Afterwards, I don't think he even remembered it.

My favorite instrument in the whole world is the human female voice, and Kate Bush is one of the reasons why. It is by far a Stradivarius, which is why she rarely details with the press or isn't in a rush to record. She's one of the few who can be above all that.

I like what we might call 'the strange voice'. I always have. John Lennon, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Bob Dylan. All that stuff.

This privileged background isn't really true. I grew up with my mother in a tiny little house in Reading. We had no money. What I did have was a very interesting, happy childhood, a good education, and I was clever. I suppose that's a privilege in itself. But the people who first met me on the pop scene thought I was terribly posh, and I probably indulged that a bit!

I liked Donovan very much! I loved his 'Ballad of a Crystal Man' which we used to sing with Keith [Keith Richards].
