Jacques Faber

Overview

  • Born
    April 1, 1940 · Brussels, Belgium
  • Birth name
    Jean-Pierre Lefèvre

Biography

  • Jacques Faber has always loved theater, whether as an actor or a film director (the only film he directed, The Choice (1976), features stage actors and two different drama companies). He made his debut in Belgium, his native country, under the direction of Claude Volter. In 1961, he moved to France and worked regularly there, with the Roger Planchon company before being signed at the Théâtre de l'Est in Paris and the Centre du Sud-Est in the South of France, a region which will serve as a location in The Choice (1976). In addition he worked for television, appearing in about twenty TV movies or series, worked as an assistant director for short films in France and in England. In 1972, while he assisted 'Georges Franju' on Shadowman (1974), the famed French filmmaker advised him to step behind the camera. The result was The Choice (1976), made both in Brussels and in the South of France, with Claude Jade in a dual role. Faber also produced with Jean Goumain.
