Biography

Kim Eveleth has had a deep commitment and passion for art all her life. Born in New York City, she began her formal art studies as a child at the Museum of Modern Art at that institution's request. She was chosen by Leonard Bernstein to draw during his Young People's Concerts televised by CBS. While still in elementary school, she won a city-wide mural contest and her design was painted as the centerpiece of a playground in Central Park.

Ms. Eveleth attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. After an internship at London's Victoria and Albert Museum during her junior year, she graduated with a BA in Art History and Theater from Smith College.

As a Henry Luce Scholar in Taiwan, Ms. Eveleth made over two dozen documentaries on Chinese culture, working with institutions including the National Palace Museum and became Taiwan's first official Arts Advocate. She wrote, directed and produced Where Confucius Meets the New Wave, a documentary film about the contemporary Chinese performing arts. It went on to win numerous awards including Best Documentary from the Chicago Film Festival and was translated into five languages.

Ms. Eveleth was co-creator and Executive Director of New York City's Arts Education Group dedicated to re-instituting arts education in the New York City public schools. She successfully brought together universities, museums, cultural institutions, government, teachers, artists and the public sector. At the invitation of the Governor, she was a founding board member of New York State's Arts Education Group.

After moving to Los Angeles, Ms. Eveleth co-created and directed LAUSD's first ever environmental Art Day involving over 800 students, teachers, artists, and parents for a day long, hands-on celebration of creativity exclusively using re-claimed materials from local business and found objects. Ms. Eveleth has lived and studied extensively in Europe and Asia. She has painted at the Camargo Foundation in the South of France, studied glass-blowing in Murano, Italy, Balinese Dance in Bali, Peking Opera in Beijing and Chinese calligraphy and brush painting in Taiwan.

A passionate and inspiring speaker, Ms. Eveleth has lectured on arts and culture world- wide at prestigious universities, museums and galleries including the Julliard School, University of California at Berkeley, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and the Asia Society in New York.

Ms. Eveleth produced the feature film, Hard Four in 2007. She serves on the selection committee for the Luce Scholars program of the Henry Luce Foundation. She is executive producer of the new Internet dramatic series Atwill.
