- Son of Florence (Krasne) and Archie Shapera. His father was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, to Russian Jewish parents. His mother was a Jewish emigrant from Odessa, then in the Russian Empire.
- In 1995, at the time of the release of his film "Showgirls", it was announced in the trades that Charles Evans was actively developing a noir revenge thriller titled "Bloodlines" as his next film production. The script was originally written by Malcolm Clark but Evans had recently hired "Showgirls" writer Joe Eszterhas to do a rewrite of the script to raise the profile of the project. Evans said that he had been developing the project for years with 6 or 7 writers before he signed Eszterhas. He was planning on producing it with his son, Charles Evans, Jr., however the project never got out of development and was shelved.
- In 1996 it was announced in the trades Charles Evans was partnering with Alan King to produce a biographical film about the feud between radio personalities Walter Winchell and Barry Gray during the "red scare" era. However the project never got past development.
