When the team Erdmann - Sohnle separated in 1938 Otto Erdmann went on with his career alone.

He continued his film career after World War II till to the end of the 50s, first for the DEFA in East Germany, afterwards in West Germany.

His last movies came at the beginning of the 60s into being with "Strafbataillon 999" (1960) and "Im Stahlnetz des Dr. Mabuse" (1961).

His first cinematical works belong" Der Flug um den Erdball" (1925) and his most famous work "Die freudlose Gasse" (1925) directed by G. W. Pabst with Asta Nielsen and Greta Garbo.

The production designer Otto Erdmann finished an education at the Academy of visual arts and joined the film business in 1921. There he began as an assistant of the production designer and director Paul Leni. Only two years later he became a demanded production designer and he worked together with Hans Sohnle as a team.

Otto Erdmann continues his career in the sound film era of the 30s and he created the decoration for the productions "Alraune" (1930), "Meine Frau, die Hochstaplerin" (1931), "Das Ekel" (1931), "Scampolo, ein Kind der Strasse" (1932), or "Der tolle Bomberg" (1932).
