- René Enríquez was born on November 24, 1933 in Granada, Nicaragua. He was an actor, known for Bananas (1971), Harry and Tonto (1974) and Hill Street Blues (1981). He died on March 23, 1990 in Tarzana, Los Angeles, California, USA.
- Attended San Francisco College and San Francisco State University. Served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Member of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York from 1958. Alumnus of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (Class of 1960).
- A nephew of General Emiliano Chamorro, one-time president of Nicaragua.
- Original reports such as his New York Times obituary published on March 28, 1990 said Enríquez died of pancreatic cancer. However, upon publication of his death certificate, Enríquez's cause of death was revealed to be complications resulting from AIDS. As reported on a 1992 episode of Entertainment Tonight, this was not a surprise to his Hill Street Blues costar Charles Haid, as Enríquez had disclosed to Haid the true nature of his affliction prior to his passing.
