Jan Englund was born on 23 August 1927 in Bronx, New York. She was an actress and writer, known for High School Hellcats (1958), The Diary of a High School Bride (1959) and A Candidate for a Killing (1969). She was married to Mark Lowell. She died on 16 January 2018 in Boynton Beach, Florida, USA.

With her husband, <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm8800791/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Mark Lowell</a>, Englund formed a writing team (credited as J.R. Lowell) working out of Rome, Italy, from the early 1950s to the late 1980s.
