Hans Ek has arranged and conducted music for several films, including Susanne Bier’s Academy Award-winning In a Better World and the Norwegian film Kon-Tiki. He has collaborated with director Tomas Alfredson on the films Let the Right One In and Se upp för Jönssonligan, as well as on the TV series Faithless, which premiered in January 2025.
Hans Ek is regularly engaged as an arranger by orchestras in Sweden, Europe, and the US. His arrangements have been performed by the New York Philharmonic (with Renée Fleming) and the Berlin Philharmonic (with Theo Croker).
As a conductor, Hans Ek has worked with artists including Zara Larsson, Stewart Copeland, Rufus Wainwright, and Gregory Porter, as well as with symphony orchestras including the Metropole Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
In recent years, Ek’s own productions-such as E.S.T. Symphony, Bowie in Berlin, Made by Björk, Studio 54 - Disco Inferno, Dance Music Symphony, 30 Century Man - Scott Walker, and Eno Remixed for Orchestra-have been performed in Sweden and internationally.
