  • While working as a lab assistant, Meredith Edwards did amateur acting, winning some cups. When he saw an advertisement about the setting up of the Welsh National Theatre, he applied to join and spent some months training with them without pay. During the war, he went on an ENSA tour, before serving in the army in the Far East and Germany. After being demobbed, he joined the Liverpool Playhouse, then got an audition with and joined the Welsh National Theatre, playing Col Pickering in Pygmalion. In the mid- 50's, he joined the Old Vic. He had a daughter, Lisa, who is a television director, and two sons, Ioan and Peter.
