His work had exhibited in prestigious museums and permanent collections worldwide.

In 1959, after the fall of the Batista government, he managed to leave Cuba and settled in New York, where he became part of the city's vibrant artistic scene. Later, he moved to Spain, where he resided until his passing.

Due to his disagreements with the Castro regime, he went into exile and maintained a critical stance against the Cuban dictatorship, expressing in various interviews his desire for a free and democratic Cuba.
