Biography

Utpal Dutt was born on March 29, 1929 in Barisal, Bengal Presidency, British India [now in Barishal, Bangladesh]. He was an actor and director, known for The Stranger (1991), Gol Maal (1979) and Bhuvan Shome (1969). He was married to Shobha Sen. He died on August 19, 1993 in Calcutta, West Bengal, India.

There is this dangerous tendency all over the world, the trends come up intellectualizing the theater and has invaded our country too and I think it's a bloody waste of time because all you do is to drive more and more people out of the theater and theater in isolation from the masses is a contradiction in terms, it really means nothing.
