The group took their name from the character Durand Durand in Barbarella (1968). played by actor Milo O'Shea.

None of the three Taylors (John Taylor, Andy Taylor, Roger Taylor) in the original line-up of Duran Duran is related to each other.

Duran Duran were awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 1770 Vine Street in Hollywood, California.
