Biography

Paul Dunlap was born on July 19, 1919 in Springfield, Ohio, USA. He was a composer, known for The Big Boss (1971), The Dreamers (2003) and You Were Never Really Here (2017). He died on March 11, 2010 in Palm Springs, California, USA.

American composer of classical (including a piano concerto), film and television music. He was trained under Arnold Schoenberg, Ernst Toch and Nadia Boulanger. His film work was generally confined to second feature westerns and science fiction.

I can only hope that I will be remembered for my piano concerto, or my choral piece, "Celebration", and not the inferior movies I was forced to be associated with.

My mother said when I was a child that my chief occupation was jingling keys and pots and pans and making noises. She hoped I was going to be a concert pianist, but of course there was no future in it, especially back in those blighted days. In any case, I was more interested in composing and orchestrating, a passion that began at the age of 12.
