Biography

Ernst Dumcke was born on November 13, 1887 in Mannheim, Germany. He was an actor, known for The Last Waltz (1934), Mädchen in Weiß (1936) and Das Schicksal der Gabriele Stark (1915). He died on June 21, 1940 in Wilmersdorf, Berlin, Germany.

Character actor, the son of the C.E.O. of a major Frankfurt insurance company. On stage from 1902 and ensemble member of the Deutschen Theater from 1919. Gave up acting for a decade to work in his father's insurance business, before resuming his career in 1929. On screen, invariably cast as authority figures, with a special penchant towards high-ranking officers and noblemen.

The actor Ernst Dumcke could look back on a long theater career when he gained a foothold in the film business. He already took part in a movie in 1913 called "In der Dämmerung". But his real film career begann from the 30's.

Ernst Dumcke died at the age of 53 in Berlin-Wilmersdorf, an interesting career was over.

From the beginning of the 30's he became a demanded support actor in important productions.
