Streaming Stars, Then and Now

Alison Duke is a multifaceted award-winning filmmaker known for her vibrant storytelling across various film genres. She is the first Black woman to direct a Canadian Heritage Minute and a recipient of the Women In Film and Television-Toronto (WIFT-T) Crystal Award for her decade-long commitment to mentoring young filmmakers. Her career began with producing music videos for top Canadian talent before directing the classic cult documentary Raisin Kane: A Rapumentary about a Toronto-based rap group, Citizen Kane. Alison's most recent works include; the two-time Canadian Screen Award-winning television documentary Mr. Jane and Finch, the 2hr documentary special entitled Cool Black North, and the Golden Sheaf-winning short fiction, Promise Me. She is the co-founder of OYA Media Group and Oya Black Arts Coalition.

Alison was inducted to the University of Windsors Sports Hall of Fame in 2009 for the sport of basketball. She was also second team academic All-Canadian.
