Got the idea to carry a 2x4 to the ring from the movie Walking Tall (1973).

In 1998, Jim was diagnosed with kidney cancer. He gave an impassioned farewell speech on WCW television before his operation, asking fans to pray for him and his family. He eventually beat the disease.
