- David's first break came when a short film he wrote, "The Roommate," premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. It starred the late Bill Paxton and Scott Thomson. David's first feature screenwriting credit was Leprechaun 3, part of the successful franchise. Released on home video in 1995, it became the biggest-selling straight-to-video title that year.
David's documentary short, "Rodrigue: A Man and His Dog," featured Oscar-winner Whoopi Goldberg as the voice of Tiffany, beloved pet of world-renowned Cajun artist George Rodrigue. It aired on PBS. His second documentary short, "Delta Justice: The Islenos Trappers War," won numerous film festivals around the country. His recent documentary is the feature-length "In a Good Place Now: The Life & Music of Bobby Charles." The film will be distributed in 2024.
Other feature credits include "Playback" for producer Brad Krevoy, "Cradle of Lies" for Lifetime Network, and "Doubting Thomas" starring AnnaSophia Robb of "Bridge to Terabithia."
David has written an adaptation of "Chainsaw Confidential," based on the book by Gunnar Hansen, the original Leatherface. It details the crazy, chaotic behind-the-scenes making of the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Greg McLean ("Wolf Creek") is attached to direct.
David is attached to direct "Dark Well," a thriller, in the summer of 2024. He's also developing a TV series based on "Blood Beneath My Feet," a memoir by noted forensic scholar and media personality Joseph Scott Morgan. "Butterfly in the Typewriter," his acclaimed biopic of John Kennedy Toole, is also in active development.
