You don't have the luxury of rehearsals and a drama coach, so you only have one take to communicate a character. If a critic trivializes your acting as simply "okay," sometimes that's the equivalent of winning the Tony.

It's also important to feel that they are only interested in doing their job; specifically, strictly shooting the scene without focusing on "cheap shot" views they can get of you.
