Biography

Jeff Downey was born Claude Jeffrey Downey in Shelbyville, Kentucky. His father, Claude Downey was an automotive worker for International Harvester and his mother, Agnes Peyton was a seamstress at the Brunswick Corporation. His parents resided in Henry County, Kentucky their entire lives. His paternal grandmother was Native American Cherokee. Downey has Dutch, Irish and Cherokee ancestry.

Jeff started playing the guitar as a teenager and continues to play to date. His first stint at college was at Eastern Kentucky University 1981-86, were he was a double major in Music and Computer Science with a minor in Theatre. He later attended Musician's Institute, 1992-93 studying the guitar, the University of Louisville 1999-2001 majoring in directing and acting and Full Sail University (2016) mastering in Entertainment Business..

His professional career as an actor began in Hollywood, CA while he was attending Musician's Institute. To earn extra cash he worked as an extra,Stand-In and other departments on film sets. He is best known for his role in the film Girl (1998) as Cybil's Acoustic Guitarist and also had a featured non credited role as Buddy on Marriage (1998). He also worked at PM Entertainment Group which included the transportation department onTiger Heart (1996).
