- Cullen Douglas is an actor, writer, and creative producer whose work spans film, television, and stage. He was the inaugural recipient of the Humanitas Prize’s New Voices Initiative, earning him a television development deal and helping launch what would later become the organization’s New Voices Fellowship.
Douglas is widely recognized for his onscreen work - he appears as Prefect Nobah in Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. Other feature work includes starring roles in The Bunker opposite Tony Todd and Tobin Bell, The Black String, John Sayles’ Sunshine State, Shuttle, The Possession of Michael King, and Man of Fire opposite the late Lance Reddick.
Television work includes the recurring role of Louis Keating on Jason Katims’ Pure Genius, a pivotal figure anchoring the series’ core storyline. Cullen has also recurred on HBO’s Barry, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and ABC’s Scandal, to name just a few. Other memorable work includes David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: The Return - appearing in Episode 8, widely regarded as one of the most groundbreaking hours of television ever produced - as well as appearances on Deadwood, Prison Break, True Blood, and Apple TV+’s Amazing Stories.
Behind the camera, Douglas wrote and directed the feature documentary Billy Flanigan: The Happiest Man on Earth, embraced by critics and audiences alike as a feel-good standout of 2022. He most recently wrote and produced My Mother the Madam, now on Lifetime, and served as Creative Producer on the indie feature Down to the Felt, now streaming on Apple. Other narrative work includes the award-winning short Portrait of a Woman at Dawn and Fading Scars.
He also wrote, directed, and starred in the critically acclaimed solo play Afraid to Look Down, which explored his first year as a father to a son born with Down syndrome. The play had its West Coast premiere at the former HBO Workspace, toured nationally for five years, and received the Lawton Medallion of Excellence.
Douglas has served on the Television Academy’s Performer Peer Group Board and Actors’ Equity Liaison Committee.
