- Attilio Dottesio started his career as a stage actor. The training he had received there made him more serious, diligent and precise than most actors working in the movie business at the time would normally be and made him a highly valued supporting actor. He is said to have been a very gentle person, both timid and tactful.

- Dottesio began his career in France, where first he obtained some success as a pop singer and later debuted as an actor in the film The Pearls of the Crown directed by Sacha Guitry.
- During his long career, he appeared in nearly 150 films, spanning all genres, from historical to romance, from espionage to western and satirical comedy, also working occasionally in radio drama and dubbing.
