Ray Dooley was born on October 30, 1888 in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. She was an actress, known for Honeymoon Lane (1931) and A Rag, a Bone and a Hank of Hair (1917). She was married to Eddie Dowling. She died on January 28, 1984 in East Hampton, New York, USA.

Sister of actors Johnny Dooley, Gordon Dooley and William Dooley.

Father, Robert Rogers Dooley, was a circus performer. The family surname was "Dool" until it was changed to "Dooley".

Dooley's husband, Eddie Dowling, was a stage actor, playwright, director, songwriter and set designer. He appeared on Broadway from 1919-1956, perhaps most notably as Tom Wingfield in the Broadway debut production of Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie".

Eddie Dowling and Ray Dooley's son, John Graham "Jack" Dowling, was killed in a plane crash in Brazil in 1955 when he was Time Magazine's Buenos Aires bureau chief. Their daughter, Mary Maxine Dowling Clark, and three grandchildren survived Dooley, who had survived Dowling.
