John is the director of upcoming 2027 feature Ice Age Boiling Point. He began directing with the Disney+ production of The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild.
Before turning to directing, John had been a producer at Blue Sky Studios for more than 20 years. Producing box office hits for Blue Sky Studios/Twentieth Century Fox such as the original Ice Age.
He earned an Academy Award nomination as the Producer of the animated short Gone Nutty.
He was also the producer of Rio and Rio2 which became a global hit franchise, Ice Age, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Ice Age: Continental Drift, Robots, and Blue Sky’s Academy Award nominated short No Time for Nuts. His projects have amassed over $3.4 Billion in world-wide box office.
A pioneer of Computer Animation, Donkin began his computer animation career in 1983 where he studied with the world renowned CGRG (Computer Graphics Research Group) at The Ohio State University. He went on to be a senior animator at the pioneering CG company Cranston/Csuri Productions.
